Pull studs by taper

CAT60 Pull Studs (Retention Knobs) – 45° Head, 1-1/4" Thread

CAT60 pull studs (retention knobs) screw into the back of a CAT60 tool holder (shank to ANSI/ASME B5.50, V-flange) so the machine's drawbar can pull it into the spindle. PTP makes 2 CAT60 pull studs: ANSI/ASME B5.50 with a 45° head, with a 1-1/4" thread, solid or with a coolant hole. Every stud is CNC ground, MPT tested (Magnetic Particle Testing) and proof tested at 2.5× the clamping force.

How do I choose a CAT60 pull stud?

  1. Taper. Check that the tool holder has a CAT60 shank to ANSI/ASME B5.50, V-flange. Its dimensions are on the CAT (ANSI/ASME B5.50) shank page.

  2. Standard. Pick the pull stud type your machine's drawbar is built for: ANSI/ASME B5.50.

  3. Head angle. ANSI/ASME B5.50 45°. Check that your drawbar gripper takes the head angle you order.

  4. Thread. CAT60 studs come with 1-1/4" thread; match the thread in your tool holder.

  5. Coolant. For through-spindle coolant, order a stud with a coolant hole (J, Ø12.7 mm).
